Freddie will be your cycling guide and is experienced in coordinating and guiding parties after organising multiple trips whilst at University. Freddie has cycled extensively in Europe but has a particular passion for Provence which is very familiar territory. He considers the variety of terrain, wide choice of routes and stunning landscape to be unsurpassed and is keen to share his passion with fellow cyclists. Freddie races at National level in Britain and has enjoyed taking part in a number of sportives both in England and in France, including the Etape du Tour. These experiences led to the the realisation that fully serviced events set over epic testing routes can be replicated and shared with others in a more casual form, which was the inspiration for Peloton Provence.
Freddie regards Mt Ventoux as his local ride and has completed the feat of riding all 3 ascents in one day. He holds the fastest time on Strava for the ascent of the mountain from Sault which is evidence of his commitment to riding in the area. This ensures he is constantly expanding his knowledge of less well known but not to be missed rides. Having ridden with groups of every ability and using his experience of coaching in other sports, whilst still only young, Freddie is in a great position to adapt your rides to suit the group’s capabilities. He currently in the process of updating his first aid training and completing a Tour Leader qualification.
Delicious, freshly prepared food will be a key feature of your trip and a dedicated cook will ensure that you enjoy a relaxing and tasty three course meal at the end of a day’s hard cycling as well as preparing breakfast and packed lunches. In 2011 Sara reached the final three of BBC Masterchef where she showcased her particular style of contemporary Italian cuisine using fresh, simple ingredients including her memorable chocolate ravioli.
Following her success on Masterchef, Sara left the NHS and has carved out a career as a chef, writer and cookery demonstrator working for private and corporate clients. A keen cyclist herself, Sara will create menus to suit your tastes and cycling programme whether this is a pasta dish ahead of a hard day's challenge or a celebratory dinner at the conclusion of your stay.
The third member of the support team will be Richard, your dedicated support driver who will ensure that you, your bike and luggage is collected from your arrival airport or station. Richard will accompany each day's cycling carrying food, water, extra clothing and spares. In the event of break down the support vehicle will aim to get the group and/or the individual rider back on course with minimal delay, it is also on hand in the unlikely event a rider may wish to retire early for any reason. Upon arrival all bikes will be checked for safety although at the level of rider anticipated on our tours we expect guests to arrive with safe, well maintained bikes as avoidable mechanical problems have the potential to hold up the group.
